With the intense blue of sea, the lush deep greens of pine and olive groves and the pure white of Dalmatia stone, this region of Zadar is extraordinary and unique in the world.
Zadar faces the islands of Ugljan and Pašman, from which it is separated by the narrow Zadar Strait. The promontory on which the old city stands used to be separated from the mainland by a deep moat which has since been filled.
The harbour, to the north-east of the town, is safe and spacious.

Where pearls are easy to find
In the north, on the vivid white cliffs underneath the Velebit mountain, where the view of the surreal landscape of Croatia’s most indented island, Pag, stretches before you.
Pag offers beautiful coves and beaches with unspoiled nature, as well as centers of modern tourism.
Island Pag is very famous, as well as Pag cheese, and its secret ingredients, the wind “bura” and salt which give it a specific and recognizable flavor.
Zadar is a 3000 years old town, whose fortifications have been inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Here you can find “Sea organ” built with 35 pipes with whistles that play 7 accords of 5 tones.
High tide and low tide during the day create unique music and unique experience that attracts lots of people and the other is the installation “greeting to the Sun".
Also, there are 300 glass panels, an installation that creates beautiful lights effects in the rhythm of the waves and sounds of Sea organ when the Sun goes down.

What to see here
In Nin you will find the smallest cathedral in the world, and the modern and lively tourist centres such as Biograd na Moru and picturesque places of the Dalmatian hinterland, Ravni Kotari, and the islands will overwhelm you with their specific Dalmatian temperament.
On the island of Ugljan you can visit the medieval fortress of St Michael, by bike or on foot. During sunset, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the view of an earthly paradise made up of emerald islands, and a golden string of pearls immersed in the sun.
