Small medieval town with rich history

The town is most famous for the salt industry which is celebrated for using old and authentic ways of producing salt known from ancient times. In addition to the salt industry, people also come to see The walls of Ston which were built in 1333 when Ston became a part of the Republic of Dubrovnik. It is 5 km long and its main purpose was to defend the Republic and the peninsula. Today the wall is the architectural wonder which makes local residents proud.
Except for salt industry, there are large oyster and mussel growing farms located here. They are known worldwide for their extraordinary products.
