Šibenik is a political, educational, transport, industrial and tourist center of Šibenik–Knin County and also the third-largest city in the historic region of Dalmatia. It is the oldest native Croatian town on the shores of the sea. While in Šibenik, visit the central church—the Cathedral of St. James, ranked on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Roughly 18 kilometres north of the city is the Krka National Park, similar to the Plitvice Lakes National Park, known for its many waterfalls, flora, fauna, and historical and archaeological remains. Next, Kornati archipelago, west of Šibenik, consists of 150 islands in a sea area of about 320 km2, making it the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea.
sail2croatia made our sailing trip in beautiful Croatia a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For my family, however, Davor made our trip by knowing where to find all the best beaches for relaxing and calmest bays for playing in the water. He is an extremely well-connected foodie so he knows where to find all the most delicious meals in Croatia. From backyard BBQs and hidden family-run restaurants to famous hotspots.
The unspoilt landscapes of the Kornati archipelago or the mind-blowing waterfalls and lakes of Krka are both designated national parks and only two of the unmissable stops on your island-hopping route. Set amid the wild beauty of white rocks and the azure sea, the Šibenik aquatorium is a yachting paradise, boasting as many as 240 isles and reefs, each of which holds an interesting feature or two.
